CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a narrowing and/or stiffening of the carpal tunnel within the wrist bones. This stiffening and narrowing causes compression of the Median nerve that innervates most of the fingers. The condition can affect a wide range of individuals from the desk worker to tradesman, from pregnant mother to Arthritis sufferers. Women are 3 times more likely than men to develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Symptoms include pins & needles in the palms and fingers often starting slowly at night, progressing to constantly throughout the day. Carpal tunnel syndrome is usually only felt in the thumb and four fingers, not the little finger.
